Our Story
From Mr. King to the Yancy family
King Boat Docks has been part of the Smith Lake community since the mid-1980s, when founder Mr. King began building steel docks here. His standard was simple: build it right, build it to last. That reputation carried the company for decades.
In 2019, Jim and Jennifer Yancy took the helm, continuing Mr. King's legacy while bringing their own passion for the lake and its people. The name on the docks hasn't changed — and neither has the standard behind them.

How We Build
Steel first. Everything else second.
Every King dock starts with 100% hot-dipped galvanized steel — in our view, the best material there is for the lake environment. It's a deliberate choice, and it's why our docks have a track record of lasting a lifetime.
Size is only limited by what Alabama Power will permit on your lot. From a simple single-slip boathouse to a sprawling multi-level triple-slip with all the amenities, every project is custom-designed for your waterfront and your lifestyle.
And every structure we build is backed by a 15-year warranty — because we know exactly what goes into it.

Alabama Lakewide Charities
Smith Lake is exceptionally large and deep, and rescue and recovery resources matter here. We support Alabama Lakewide Charities, which equips the Lewis Smith Lake community with rescue and recovery equipment and services — help that families need in their hardest moments.
Poor Man Poker Run
We're a proud repeat sponsor of the Poor Man Poker Run, an annual charity event on Lewis Smith Lake that raises funds for Alabama Lakewide Charities. As the Yancys put it: you never know when we might need it.
